The following rules apply to posts in all Psychology Evolution Community sections, including the content of "signatures" and avatars:
Note that these rules are in addition to the User Agreement and Terms of Service you agreed to upon registering. The final say and interpretation of these rules for specific instances rests solely with the Psychology Evolution Moderator Team.
Be civilized Do not create offensive, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive or excessively profane posts. Do not instigate, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. If you insult someone "jokingly", be prepared to have it not interpreted that way by the Moderators. A general rule applies: "criticise ideas, not people." Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offence is grounds for immediate account deletion.
Do not post 'hateful' material Reflexive discussion on the subject of prejudice in the proper sections of the Community is acceptable. However, making hateful comments, directed at any person or group, may get your account immediately suspended. We take this matter extremely seriously. Psychology Evolution is not a place for sexual discrimination, racial bigotry or hateful speech of any kind.
Do not post trolls/ads/spam/get-rich-quick schemes/other junk Do not make posts that are inflammatory just to get people riled up. Do not post useless or off-topic material. Even if a silly, no-purpose, post seems harmless and fun, you may receive a warning and the message locked/deleted. Moderators required to examine numerous posts of this kind will not tolerate this behaviour. In general, do not post advertisements. Advertising may be allowed in certain circumstances; ask a Moderator privately before posting. If a post is primarily just an ad for another website, then it will likely be removed. In general, post if you have something to say. If you want to create a new article, please try and make it worthwhile. For example, rather than only posting one sentence asking "What do you think about [insert subject]?" please also explain your position, thoughts and feelings, and why. If you can try to make it interesting and engaging to read for others, then you are more likely to receive quality responses.
You are responsible for what you write Individual authors of Psychology Evolution messages are solely responsible for their content, and Psychology Evolution is not interested in encouraging any illegal activity. Specifically, do not solicit to violate copyright law, publish people's personal information or slanderous statements, or anything else that might violate someone's privacy. Threats against another person will be taken extremely seriously. We cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies bearing appropriate paperwork.
Keep messages on-topic and do not cross-post Post in the appropriate section of the Community for your topic, and don't post similar messages in multiple sections. Do not create a new article when an existing one will suffice. Do not create 'nonsense' articles.
Respect others' privacy and belongings Do not post PsychNotes, e-mails or other private correspondence in public sections of the Community. Do not make private information public, especially about other members of the Community. Don not take avatar or other graphics and use them as your own, or as the basis for your own, without permission.
Moderators have final say Psychology Evolution administrators and Moderators reserve the right to edit, relocate and/or remove any message, at any time, for any reason. Consider all editing decisions final. If you do not agree with a decision, you may discuss it with the Moderator who made the judgment in private. If you cannot reach resolution with the Moderator in private, contact the site administrator via e-mail, explaining the entire situation, with all relevant information/links/excerpts/emails. Under no circumstances should you attempt to start a 'debate' about specific Moderator decisions in any public section of the Community.
The Psychology Evolution Community is moderated by a team who may be required to make difficult decisions. If your actions consistently result in the Moderators' job becoming more difficult, then it ultimately hurts the Community and this pattern of behaviour will not be tolerated. Participating in the Psychology Evolution Community is a privilege and by invitation only; it is not a right. Everyone's cooperation and adherence to the above rules is an absolute necessity. If you encounter members of the Community or messages violating these rules, then please report it to the Moderators as soon as possible.
